Marshmallow Snowmen

Objective: The students will be able to make a fun snowman out of marshmallows and create a story if appropriate.Grades K-2
Initiation: Read Frosty The Snowman, a holiday classic, and discuss.
Development: Pass out a handful of marshmallows, colored construction paper, pretzels, markers,raisins, scrap materials and glue. Instruct the class to create their own snowman however they would like. They can use the pretzel sticks for arms or create their own. They can use the raisins for the eyes or buttons, or something else. Glue the marshmallows and the scraps to the snowman and onto the construction paper to make him/her special. Make it creative! Depending on the grade level, or skill level, have the students write a story about their snowman. Maybe a day in the life of a snowman, or how to make a snowman, or even how my snowman came to life.
Closure: Share the completed snowmen with each other and sit around in a circle and share your snowman stories. Have some hot cocoa and mini marshmallows too!
Materials: Snowman story, marshmallows, pretzels, raisins, scrap materials, colored construction paper, glue, markers...
Time: 30-40 min.
