Who Am I Crowns
By Caroline Wyman

Objective: The students will be able to make a personality crown to wear that expresses their likes and interests in order to get to know each other in their new classroom environments. Grades K-3

Crowns for your students

Initiation: Introduce yourself to the class by telling everyone your first and last name and begin by telling them small things about yourself. Foods you like to eat, favorite color, places you like to go, hobbies...

Development: After talking about all of your interests, have a pre-made crown ready to show the class. On the front strip of paper in big letters have your name printed in big colorful letters. On the other strip of paper have magazine pictures representing yourself pasted like a collage all over the rest of the crown. Instruct the class to take their time and really think about what best describes their personality. Handout several magazines and allow the students to share magazines for the personality collages. After completing their crowns let the students who would like to share their crowns and explain what they cut out to the classmates. Students can then wear their crowns for the rest of the day.

Closure: Explain to the class that we are all trying to get to know each other and this is one way that we can wear our selves on our heads.

Materials: Strips of paper, glue, magazines, crayons.

Time: 30-40 min.
