Anjali's Kite

By Vijaya Khisty Bodach • Illustrated by Nancy Lane

"Draw me a kite," said the paper.

Anjali drew a kite.

"Cut me out," said the kite. Anjali cut out the kite. "I need sticks and string," said the kite. Anjali glued on sticks and tied on string. "I need a tail," said the kite. Anjali made a tail. "Fly me," said the kite. Anjali held the string and ran into the wind. The kite flew high over the trees. A big gust of wind broke the string. "I'm free!" said the kite. The kite flew up to the clouds.

"Good-bye, kite," said Anjali, laughing.

Anjali ran home. "Draw me a kite," said the paper. Anjali drew another kite.
